Launched in 1981, the MkII Cavalier was seen as a huge success for its manufacturer, outselling the Ford Sierra in ’83 and ’85. With a low survival rate, they are a rare sight on today’s roads.

Affectionately known as Charles, this Vauxhall Cavalier GL Auto has had just two owners from new. First registered in March 1985 to a Mr Wright of Camden, London who had the Cavalier serviced at the same Vauxhall garage in London from 1986 – 1990, our vendor took ownership in 2013. During our vendors ownership the Cavalier has been used sparingly to preserve its originality, he’s had the car Dinitrol treated and fully cavity waxed by JR Classics in Askern to help with this preservation. He goes onto to tell us

“Owned by Mr Wright from new and then sold to me. Maintained at the same garage from new and has never had any panels replaced, he is 95% original paint. The front offside wing had a surface scab which was professionally sorted and lower valance area to both offside doors blown into the moulding. Last year it had a new timing belt and water pump, changed twice in my ownership. The original wheel trims were slightly scuffed so I had them professionally restored and repainted to a superb standard. Charles has never been out in the wet or on any salty roads during my ownership, the car has been stored inside from new so no trim fading or dash cracks.”

Finished in the best colour, China Blue, the paintwork on B350 OLD looks fantastic, check out the image gallery. You’ll see that there’s a patch on the front valance that could do with a little TLC, but other than that the Cavalier’s condition is commensurate with its recorded mileage. The refurbed  original wheel trims and dealer sticker are nice to see. Inside the boot and under the bonnet the car is solid, the spare wheel and tools are present. The Cavalier has factory fitted power steering.

Climb inside and it’s a proper 80’s time warp. Grey fabric seats, half fabric half vinyl door cards, sun strip and parcel shelf speakers. It couldn’t get any more retro!

The history folder contains the original bill of sale, current V5, invoices and twenty one MOT certificates which warrant the mileage of 28,000 miles:

Our View 

This is the first time that this Vauxhall Cavalier has been on the open market since it left Express Motors in London in 1985.

We love everything about it! MKII’s are a rare sight nowadays, never mind a well preserved, low mileage GL Auto example like this. The Cavalier is ready for the road or to sit in a low mileage collection, and with just a few hours spent detailing, Charles could by the King of the show circuit.
