Built by BL as a facelift of the Marina, the Morris Ital was produced for just four years from 1980 to 1984. Styled by Harris Mann, its name was taken from Giorgetto Giugiaro’s Italdesign studio, employed by BL to oversee the re-engineering of its predecessor.

Both the Marina and Ital have quite a following today, with the Morris Marina Club & Ital Register membership ever expanding. The club offers fantastic support and knowledge to owners and will be an added bonus to whoever takes ownership of this fabulous Ital.

Looking resplendent in Monza Red with grey cloth interior A664 WOC looks as good as the day it left the factory.  Restored in 2011 by renowned Pool Lane Classics, York, with work carried out totalling £7000, the invoice is in the history folder:

Although the V5 states the Ital has had 11 former keepers, it’s been in the hands of the same owner an astonishing 5 times! Our vendor has owned the car for five years during which time he has maintained it very well, including

• Service
• New brakes
• 4 new tyres
• New chrome wheel embellishers

The interior is in excellent condition, the grey cloth seats show no signs of wear at all. The door cards and carpets are just lovely, along with the dash which looks as good as new. This really is one very good looking Ital.

Under the bonnet sits the reliable, easy to maintain 1275cc A series engine which sounds great and runs very well.

The Morris Ital has covered less than 1,000 miles in the last five years. The current recorded mileage of just 25,611 is commensurate with the condition of the trim and how well it drives, although there’s no paperwork present to back this up. Our vendor has used the car sparingly, taking it to shows where it has won best Ital and 3rd place at regional events.

The current V5, restoration invoice, sales invoice from Box Fast Classics in 2016, and a handful of receipts are included in the sale plus lots of spares including, headlights, lenses, service items and door trim.

We could harp on about how lovely this Morris Ital 1.3 SL is, but we think the image gallery speaks volumes. Take your time to study the photos and we’re sure you’ll come to the conclusion that this is one of the nicest examples you’ve ever seen.

Our view

The boss drives one, so we obviously love it.  British Leyland motors are becoming increasingly popular with enthusiasts as most of us have a nostalgic connection with them. This Morris Ital 1.3 SL has certainly had some money spent on it and the end result is amazing. The hard work has been done and it’s ready for the next person to enjoy the fruits of someone else’s labour.
