Everybody knows what a classic Mini is all about. Pure undiluted joy. Alec Issigonis shaped and formed the Mini. Do you think he knew back then that he’d already created Britain’s most iconic car?

Background

Mk 3 production commenced in 1969.

  • Date of first registration 5 January 1970
  • One previous registered keeper
  • The HPi check states – “Mini Cooper S”
  • The V5 states – “Mini Cooper S”
  • Both are in the image gallery
  • Chassis number – XA2S1N16529A
  • Engine number – 12H694AA040283

Outside

Probably the biggest single revision to the Mini range was the introduction of the Mk 3 bodyshell. The images in the gallery tell their own story. Please do take a look.

  • Red with black roof
  • Aside from a few minor age-related marks, the paintwork appears good
  • As you’d expect, the panel gaps look good
  • The brightwork is clean and tidy
  • Lamps, glass and other external attachments are in decent condition
  • The steel wheels have been finished with a chrome hubcap

The package has stood the test of time.

Inside

The interior carries on where the exterior left off.

  • The seats appear original
  • The beige vinyl seats are in decent condition considering their age
  • The rear seats are in good order
  • Front door cards show signs of wear but are fine overall
  • The headlining shows no stains or sagging
  • Three spoke steering wheel
  • Inside the boot are twin petrol tanks

You get a real sense of occasion as you drop down into the classic Mini. Your eye is drawn to that big central instrument binnacle.

Mechanicals

The engine in this Mini was rebuilt in 2000.

  • 1275cc A-Series
  • Twin SU carburettors
  • Upgraded air filters
  • Four-speed gearbox
  • 5-inch steel wheels

Guide Prices

In a sector, where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’ on a vehicle.   Let’s be honest, everyone knows the broad value of a classic and the ‘market’ decides – but, if you’d like us to provide an estimate that’s fine, just email us and we’ll get back to you.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please

We strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings possible. However, we’re not perfect, and your own analysis is very important, we are here to help and answer any queries you may have.

We offer and positively encourage buyers to view or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics. So, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, assume that the vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in their life.

Images and photos Technology continues to improve, but please understand that quality varies. If you would like more images, please ask us and we will contact our vendor for you.

Vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired via an auction site. If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Please read our Terms and Conditions  here and our FAQS  here
