Sir Alec Issigonis certainly knew what the British public were looking for when he designed the Austin 1100. Launched in 1962, it soon became the bestselling car in Britain, with production lasting 12 years and over two million being sold.

Finished in El Paso Beige with Satin Beige interior, the Austin 1100 we have here is a very special car indeed. Our vendor had been on the hunt for a low mileage 1100 for years, until Ian Kennedy sourced UNK 194E for him two years ago.

Our vendor informs us that the car has never been welded or painted which makes this lovely little Austin 1100 about as original as they come. The underneath is just as good as the top too, clean enough to eat your Yorkshire pudding off!

Since acquiring the Austin, our vendor has completed following work:

  • Hydrolastic suspension serviced by Ian Kennedy
  • Recent new clutch slave, clutch and brake master
  • 4 new tyres (as it was still on original cross ply tyres!)

Sometime in 2000/2001 the speedometer was changed on the Austin (it’s in the boot). The history folder contains old MOT certificates going back to 1991 which trace the mileage back to when it was swapped.

  • 1991 – 16,573 miles
  • 1992 – 17,108 miles
  • 1993 – 17,631 miles

The El Paso Beige paintwork is delightful. Take a look at the gallery, you’ll see just how clean the boot and engine bay are. Under the bonnet, the easy to maintain 1098cc A series engine sounds lively, perfect for driving Britain’s country lanes. (Please view the video to see the Austin 1100 in action.) The recently serviced hydrolastic suspension provides a super smooth ride. The spare wheel is present and the 1100 is fitted with a full stainless steel exhaust system.

Climb inside and you’re pleasantly surprised at just how spacious the Austin 1100 is. It’s incredibly airy, with pretty much 360 degree glass, which gives excellent visibility. The Satin Beige vinyl seats and door cards are in excellent condition, the carpets are good too. Can you believe this car is 57 years old! We highly recommend viewing the Austin 1100 to appreciate just how good it is, just get in touch with us.

Supplied with a Heritage Certificate, current V5, MOT certificates and invoices, handbooks and tools. There are also numerous spares, too many to list, including lights, brakes, service items and head lights.

Our view

We’ve seen this car in the metal and it really is as good as the image gallery suggests.

The Austin 1100 makes the perfect classic, deceptively spacious, fun to drive, super comfy, undeniably good looking and eternally popular. This low mileage, highly original example, in by far the best colour combination, is going to be extremely hard to beat.

Guide Prices

In a sector, where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’ on a vehicle.   Let’s be honest, everyone knows the broad value of a classic and the ‘market’ decides – but, if you’d like us to provide an estimate that’s fine, just email us and we’ll get back to you.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please

We strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings possible. However, we’re not perfect, and your own analysis is very important, we are here to help and answer any queries you may have.

We offer and positively encourage buyers to view or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics. So, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, assume that the vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in their life.

Images and photos Technology continues to improve, but please understand that quality varies. If you would like more images, please ask us and we will contact our vendor for you.

Vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired via an auction site. If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.
